Ohakune Mountain Road to Turoa Trail

Experience a thrilling descent of 1000 meters over just 17 kilometers on the Ohakune Mountain Road. This fantastic downhill stretch offers stunning views of the Ruapehu district and the Whanganui National Park. Starting at the Turoa car park, 1620 meters above sea level, the road winds through barren volcanic fields, past historical lahar sites, and finally into the lush forests of the lower slopes.
