Situated in the Tongariro National Park a UNESCO Dual World Heritage site the Tongariro Alpine.

Crossing is one of the best one day walks in the world and definitely number 1 in New Zealand.

The 19.5 kilometre trek will take you 7-8 hours to complete during which time you will cross a spectacular volcanic landscape with the contrasting vivid colours of the crater lakes and down through a mature native forest.

Our services to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing will only operate when the weather and track conditions are safe for freedom walkers.

Tongariro crossing from National Park

National Park pickup from the park and ride facility on the corner of Finaly Street and Station Road.

Pickup 6.45am and 8am.

Bookings are essential for this service.

Tongariro Crossing from Raetihi/Ohakune

Book now

Services operating from Ohakune/Raetihi will depart by 7.00am.

The Tongario Alpine Crossing

The Return times from Ketetahi for all of our service will be 2.30pm, 4.00pm and 5.30pm

Please note:

These times are changeable depending on daylight and weather.
Shuttle services can also be arranged to any of the many Hiking tracks in the Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks.
Our services to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing will only operate when the weather and track conditions are safe for freedom walkers.

Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is made by the client within 24 hours of departure 100% of the total booking fee will be lost.

All other cancellations incur an administration fee of 20% of the total booking.

Refund Policy

Dempsey Buses reserve the right to cancel any activity at any time due to conditions that would make the activity unsafe.

If Dempsey Buses cancel, clients will be refunded 100% of purchase price. No refund will be given if the client cancels within 24 hours of departure.

No refund will be given to any client who fails to turn up for a confirmed booking.
